Old & New

(My two newbies ontop of a pile of old geezers)

Every artist has them...The oil paints you've had since college.  They no longer have labels, and look like a twisted, goopey mess in your paint drawer.  They may not be the best quality of paint but the two of you have fought battles on the canvas together.

Considering how much paint costs who can blame you!?  I recently made the resolution to buy a new tube of paint or brush after each completed painting.  My hope is to build a collection slowly rather than suffer a heart attack at the AC Moore register at the cost of multiples.   Will I ever let my oldies but goodies go....?  Not likely.

A look back

This year has been such an experience for me as an artist.  I started a website, created a blog, did my first time lapse painting, and painted a piece for a celebrity.  I spent some time today to reflect on past accomplishments, failures, and lessons that have impacted me as an artist and teacher.  One of my favorite memories was when my work was selected to hang in one of my favorite hotels in Philly.  Every time I visit the hotel it encourages me to work hard and never stop painting because every once and a while your work is acknowledged and appreciated. Stephen Tannenbaum, one of the founders of Ugallery is on the picture with me and is one of the first people to see potential on my work.  So a big thank you to Ugallery for their support!  Happy New Year everyone and as my students say "Keep arting."
